I love old vintage fans. Maybe it’s the industrial materials or the lure of danger. But, either way—I love them. So, every time I see an old fan, I’m instantly drawn to it—from seeing them in old hardware stores to corporate offices. I once visited one of my favorite teacher’s offices and he had a lovely, blue vintage fan sitting on the floor that we chatted about. He retired from teaching and knew how much I adored the fan and gave it to me (thank you, Florian!). That’s the beauty pictured above. It’s a vintage, 1970′s Superlectric 12″ fan from Superior Electric Products Corporation. I love the blue transparent blades and how it’s rusting on the fan base. It’s the little things, but I really like it.
Here’s Susan J. Smith’s blog post (she was inspired by a very similar fan). Amazing. She posted a little history about the Superior Electric Products Corporation, for those who are interested. Here’s also a great resource website for other fan lovers out there.
Hmmm…maybe I’ll start collecting fans. Why not?
Do you have any old vintage fans?
